So what? They do it so we should do it?

    That's 5 year old logic.

Could someone Please point out where in any of my posts I said we should do the same thing? I was simply pointing out that another poster who seemed to think that this kind of behavior didn't exsist in other countries wAs wrong.

Oh good! Finally! I used to enjoy drinking Budvar, Plzen, etc. and I wasn't thrilled when I moved to the US that Anheuser-Busch would be able to market the lemonade under the same brand. Cheers!

Sadly, I remember reading an article a while back that said the number one import beer in the U.K. was...Budweiser. Not the Czech version, but the Anheuser-Busch version. There also stats showing how much their sales were going up, while sales of Guinness were down all around the U.K. It was very depressing. All those lovely beers to import from their own back yard, and Budweiser is the number one import? I haven't seen any numbers on the rest of the EU, though.

"There's nothing wrong with remembering it, but why do we have to constantly remember?" she said. "We're not at fault. I mean, if they're going to put a Holocaust museum in every city in Germany, that's fine with me. But we didn't do this to the Jews. Why do we have to keep paying the price and why do they keep oppressing the Palestinians? Do the Jews ever look at themselves? Why are they always right? Because they have been oppressed throughout history, I know. And they have this persecution. That's true, but they shouldn't use that to dominate."

Now that she's got nothing to lose she's letting it all hang out.

Stick a "Burn to DVD" button on it or else it would be utterly useless to me... my desk chair is comfortable but not "watch a movie" comfortable

    GSM - 2G (Cingular)

    Both use CDMA
    EVDO - 3G (Verison,Sprint)
    UMTS/HSDPA - 3G (Cingular)

I don't think the iPhone would use an outdated technology like GSM considering Apple was the first company to stop supporting floppies, and analog serial connectors. There is a tremendous amount of potential in next gen wireless applications none of which GSM could support.

As an editor i am very very happy with what i see here. Especially native avchd editing. No more Toast for transcoding and more importantly it will save 4-5x in hard drive space - Yes!

Keywording and the timeline editing looks awesome and speaks for itself. I would like to see more how keyframing works including hopefully more after effects like capacity with more ease in complex animating with masks, etc.

Whenever possible i don't want to go to another app for effects. I use After Effects a lot but i feel it is quite old school and could easily be blasted out of the water by something more apple like in the direction of final cut X.

So apple are you gonna make Motion not suck anymore with a completely new ui? Are you going to make it also more seamlessly integrate with final cut? Please rock it like you did final cut x - and i could let get out of the Adobe dungeon.

Then the naysayers have a turn of heart and say - Oh what i would give to be crucified (by apple). They must think the sun shines out (apple's) a-hole :)

It's a great inovative concept. One that could actually be popular and work.

Don't know.. I know some mobile phones that have a keypad as overlay for a touchscreen.. though this keypad is not exchangable. However, the idea isn't all that new.

Not a good sign, not a good sign... Last time he talked about his personal life was ...in after he was diagnosed to have a rare form of pancreatic cancer? And now he is telling us everything about himself...

I really hope that he will be healthy and lead Apple to another decade of success.

Personally I'm not too interested in this as my music collection isn't that large and I add new songs too far apart to make syncing an hassle. Don't have to worry about being connected to the internet either to listen. I could see it being useful for those who have a huge music collections though.

it's a pretty big assumption to assume that a student is 'hacking the network' because he's on a laptop.

So hack it from a terminal, show him up... XP
Ok DONT, but his logic is probably that if you hack from a terminal i'm guessing that they can track it a lot easier, hack from a laptop and it could be anyone right? I don't know, i may have watched too many NCIS and spy shows...

But basically if you bring in "hacking software" software on a laptop it'd be just as easy to bring it on a memory stick  and i don't know about your school, but i know mine didn't really have a great rep for being secure :p

I did bring in my laptop once and a while, but being almost the only one in the school bringing a laptop, and having it be a shinny white mac kind of puts a target on your back for anyone that wants to ******* with you.

BOTTOM LINE: Imo just don't bring your laptop unless you can actually see the policy, it might not be a school policy, he might just be an ass hole, but don't screw with him.

It might be interesting to see if games for phones become a profitable revenue stream for game developers since they can skip several of the middle men via downloading games, instead of through traditional retail.

I think that was shown to be the case a long time ago.

    Then it isn't a T1.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Signal_1

3mbit/sec is still pretty slow for this. That's only 375K bytes/sec. A 600MB media file (the size of a CD, and apx. the size of an H.264-compressed full-length SD video) would take about a half-hour to transfer.

Now, with my 30mbit/sec Internet service, I expect to be able to transfer, from the biggest sites anyway, at maybe 20mbit/sec. At certain times of the day, I get the full 30. At 20, though, that 30 minutes shrinks to 4 minutes.

In my post I was referring to megabytes not megabits. I get a solid 50megabits down and 10megabits up. I think this should be sufficient to get the system up and running with a possible upgrade in the future.

Having said that, I am usually working with files less than your 600MB benchmark because they are all webpage elements.

Sorry for the confusion, thank you all for your advice. I've been carefully reading each post and appreciate your continued support.

The dGPU has always been a separate MXM board and thus replaceable...

Good to know, thanks. Im wondering why iFixit is remarking on it then (as if it were new).

Why patent something if you have no intent of developing? It hinders progress.

It's called licensing. You create/think of a really neat/innovative way of doing something yet you don't have tons of money (or ambition) to actually turn it into a product, market it, sell it, support it, etc.

Lots of patents are created so that the owner can sell/license the patent to vendors/manufacturers/companies who want to use it.
