Nice. That's from C418's MC album, yes? Is that available in high resolution somewhere?

Yeeees, it is :) Great album too. Here's a link. (http://www66.zippyshare.com/v/38782629/file.html)

He'll probably only tell half the story and you'll have to buy the updated edition to hear it all.

Classic! Yeah, Ill read it on m iPad 19 after more minor updates with a new one every 6 months.

Sorry for the delay in getting back, and thanks for all the replies.

Regarding the money, I have to be frugal now as I haven't been able to work for over a year due to sickness (and BTW no I don't have an iPad 2 ;)) So money is the deciding factor here. I know that spending a little more for a mini is more bang for the buck, but I just don't have it.

Regarding getting a new Intel mini, I know they are worth it, but it is unfortunately out of my range ATM. Plus I have no desire to use Windows and I currently have a library of PPC apps and even a few classic apps as noted. Any thing even twice the speed of my G4 will make me happy. And the benchmarks are saying that the dual G5s are about 3x speed. I'm sure the quads are nice but I don't multitask much outside of iTunes, and can't think of any apps I would use that would even recognize more than 2 cores.

Regarding the G4 dual suggestions, I thought that they would be only marginally faster because they are hampered by slow bus/ram speeds and use (natively) slow IDE drives. And I like to get the next generation Mac when upgrading (my previous mac was an iMac G3). Also I think I will eventually outgrow 2GB of ram so the G5 seems to fit the bill there.

My needs are relatively light, my main concern is keeping up with the internet stuff, and some more HD storage. Plus I am a bit of a strategy gamer and see that the G5 would allow me to play Age of Empires III, Civ 4, Sim City 4. I would also like Xplane, but not sure which version would be best suited, 8 or 9?

So it looks like I will go with what I thought and get an early dual G5 (but not the dual 2.0) with an ADC port to bring along my :apple: monitor. And I won't worry about bringing over any parts from the G4 as I will probably wipe the drive and give it to a friend in need of a comp.

**I thought u had to have it shipped to you if you pre-order and aren't guaranteed to get it by the 24th. Where did you hear you can have it shipped to the store and are guaranteed to have it that day in store?

Is it true also that if you choose to have it delivered to your door you won't get it on the 24th?

I just googled and found this http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2452992&tstart=0

I must live wrong or something. All these people are worried about being tracked? Are they all spies, or gang members, or something?

hehe, The government, or whomever, can track me all they want. It would be a most boring exercise for them.

I totally agree. Especially North Americans should start caring more about nature and conserving resources. It is really sad. Originally Posted by MisterK

This pisses me off. It's a horrible example of decadence and wastefulness. Thing of all the energy and effort that went into making this device. From the mining of the metals to the labour to shipping it across the ocean. The truck that drove it to its final destination. If you've ever given any care to the environment, this should make you mad. Imagine explaining this to someone who has nothing. It went through a long journey. Did nothing. Now it's landfill. Sickening.

It's really nothing to get upset about, you're acting like he's blending puppies. It's an ad for a product.

    Intel Xeon Processor X5687 (http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=52578) - $1663.00

    The base model has a 5660 @ $800.

And is more desirable in the enterprise world (think racks of servers). :p

Depends on what you are doing in Enterprise. Think Reprographics. :apple:

Johnny Cheung Lee is a badboy. His Wii Remote work was simply awesome; head tracking, creating your own digital whiteboard for next to nothing etc.

He was snapped up by Microsoft - and subsequently it would appear Google - and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he was on the dev team for Kinect.

If these guys have half the talent Lee does Apple should hire them today.

    Check him out: http://johnnylee.net/

I live in Kentucky, a place no 1 in Calif cares about, with the spotty signal and hills and valleys why then does my iPhone 4 perform better than my former iPhones? I have yet to drop a call, the 3GS would do so regularly. I have no explanation for this but I plan on buying a element case for my I4 . I will not down load the fix until I hear that it won't ****** up my I4.

    That would certainly be nice...

As long as Color (or at least its functionality) is still around and I can continue to freelance with it, I'll be open to the idea of updating. I'm actually in the early stages of setting up a long-form doc. Hopefully more info will roll out soon, so I can decide on whether to do it in FCPx.
Honestly, I wouldn't. If Apple really is trying to get people to think of FCP X as a version 1 product I wouldn't want to use something like a long form doc to test drive it. With regards to Color... at least there is the Baselight plug-in and DaVinci Resolve as affordable alternatives. From what I've read Resolve 8 got a lot of thumbs-up at NAB.

Do you have the Get: Dialog Search (http://www.getphonetic.com/get/index.html) software? I haven't used it yet, but based on what I've read I don't think I'd consider doing a doc in the future w/o it.

In this modern age where the players are 'athletes' are they still allowed cucumber sandwiches and scones or is it all isotonic sports drinks now?

I wouldn't be surprised if they were slurping beer (ale of course) at the intervals, though Strauss must have needed something to boost him in his seven hours yesterday.

No rain today I think - we will have to play our sox off. Here we go....!

So very true. I am one of those waiting for C2D, but the term has started and I'm still waiting. I am a student developer, and if they wait much longer I will get a Dell. I think about getting the Dell everyday but my heart has been set on the MacBook Pro.

Apple are losing many sales by not offering the cutting edge. Wasn't the point of the Intel switch to have Portable 64-bit offerings that IBM could not deliver with the G5?
You are obviously not trying to switch because of OS X. For me, I couldn't stand Windows or Linux (too complicated to be any good) anymore.

Also, I'm not understanding the slow Finder thing either. When I first click on the Documents folder it pops up after no more than 1/2 second on a PowerBook and after each time thereafter its instant (cached). Have you used one recently? I mean, on a MacBook clicking on Safari on first launch is about as fast as it can get. Click and, as Jobs says, "boom" its there.

Storing my files so that apple can dictate what I can or can't have on their servers? Companies essentially owning my content?

    Yeah I think I'll pass.

Cloud based services are anti-technology, with garbage like this companies have no incentive to increase capacities on storage devices and all content would be under a corporation's server who's sole basis is to make money while holding your data hostage.

Apple specifically is one of the most unethical companies out there.

Why they hell are you on these forums then?

You, along with others, are making a pretty big assumption. Why does it have to be exclusively streaming? Why couldn't apple allow you to download the itunes you want onto your computer, but at the SAME TIME, allow you stream it if you wanted?

The data cent is huge and costly. And if you think about, we can already stream 90 seconds of a song on itunes, so why would they need such a big data center if their only plan was itunes streaming?

I think itunes streaming is coming, but I think its a small part of something much bigger.

Yeah, but those DVDs will be around fifteen years from now when, presumably, you still want to use the software you dropped $1200 on. Show me a hard drive that will do such a thing, and you've got me sold. Until then, especially for professional apps costing significant sums, DVDs are going to be the standard.

I have a 40GB that still works from a decade ago. You are not supposed to use hard drive for other purposes than just installation and copying files. Hard drives can last just as long as DVDs. It’s far easier to scratch a dvd than to scratch the platter in the hard drives. You can also simply back up the hard drive to another hard drive or have the company send you a replacement for a fee just as you can with DVDs. It’s also far easier to back up the hard drives than to back up the 10 DVDs. Put them on read-only flash, it’ll last practically for a century if not longer.

I say keep the Core Solo Mac mini around. I know it's a few dollars less then a Core Duo but we need something to round out the $500 area again. The markets are really segmented at $499, $999, $1499, and $1999.

This is exactly how you lose the legitimacy to critique another culture.

Now personally I really find the veils to be a misogynistic and horrid piece of culture and it's right for every rational person to openly criticize them. However, this is not something that can be legislated away. That only leads to ingrained resistance and distrust from minority groups.

I can see how the veils might be a problem when identification and security are involved, but these women were protesting. The French should be ashamed of themselves.
