While a neat technology, it's a bit of a stretch to really call this "glasses-free 3D". Unlike the 3DS, where actual illustion of depth is present, this is just changing the perspective on a rendered 3D object on the screen based on head position. The image that the left and right eye sees are the same, thus no actual "3D" effect.
I find it a bit of a stretch to say one kind of optical illusion is "real 3D" while another optical illusion is "not really 3D."
I get that they're different and I understand their strengths and weaknesses (really I do) but let's not forget that they're ALL just illusions of 3D space stuck to a 2D plane.

I dunno what his deal is, but my mother-in-law only has one working eye. These things are neat for her because she can see them whereas she can't experience the traditional glasses-based kind at all.

That's never going to come. Microsoft has moved away from WebDAV. It's not included in Exchange 2007/2010 if I'm correct. And the only reason Windows versions of Outlook still work is that they are using MAPI currently, which I believe Microsoft is also doing away with.
Awesome. I'm stuck with 2003. My work doesn't even have it under consideration for the next two years. I really don't like using Entourage, but it's the only program I can get to work correctly. I was actually going to get Office because Word and Excel need some new life, but I guess I'll be doing without Outlook.

I almost find it more likely that an oled keyset, similar to this would be stuck in (http://www.artlebedev.com/everything/optimus/) a mac before a entirely touchpad interface, but then again, I'm not an apple exec.
That would be cool. What would make it cooler is intead of having individual keys, have it be one giant touchscreen like a Ninitendo DS or (even better) like they have on Star Trek.
Something else that would be cool would be a braille keyboard. I'm not blind, but this could really help for those people who are. Heck, there probably is one already. That added w/ Mac OS X's Voiceover technology would really help! And if someone somehow created a braille keyboard that changes like the OLED keyboard, that would be even better!

There seems to be a bit of beer snobbery going on here. I don't particularly like stouts (apart from the odd Caffrey's) and don't like standard lagers, the likes of Tennents, Carling, McEwans... but I will drink a Bud. It's cheap mass produced fizzy water, but hey it's better than not having a beer. I also like Fosters, Carlsberg, and Rolling Rock (which if anybody knows where to get them in this country I'd be eternally grateful).
I've been in Belgium and had a Hoegaarden and didn't particularly like it. I've been in Leuvern and had a Stella and it was much better than the Welsh copy you get in this country... but I'd still drink it. But Jupiler is by far my favorite!:)

I have used my MBP multiple times to give presentations in my high school. The first time I did it, one IT "expert" did have a problem with it. I basically confronted him on it (this was in front of the Principal, who was attending the presentation) and told him straight out that he was wrong. His argument was the typical, "Macs aren't Windows, they can't be used in a network because they are insecure" argument. I told him he was wrong. And he stopped.

cant say about the US but where i live the iPhone is kinda losing its image, the market seems to be saturated and people are getting sick of seeing iPhones everywhere. the times where "OMG an iPhone" were the norm r long gone and people r looking more and more elsewhere > android. it's kinda like going shopping at H&M ... "its pretty but i dont buy it bc i know a billion other people who own the same pants"

We still have a 2004 20" Power G5 iMac that is my wife's primary home computer. It's been dead reliable for all the years we've owned it, and was my primary iTunes Library machine until just a few months ago. It's still used daily for light-duty stuff: web browsing, email, word-processing, and as a Citrix client so my wife can connect to her School's systems (she's an administrator at a High School). It works fine for all that sort of stuff.

Dual core 2.3 PowerPC G5
16GB of DDR2 PC2-4200 Memory
2x320GB SATA Hard drives
18x Superdrive
Fully loaded with Mac OS X 10.5.8
Original software/restore discs + manual + box.
Nvidia Geforce 6800
for like 250.00 - would that be a good deal for the OP? I think the Quads are also nice, but you have the risk of it possibly leaking later on.. though when I acquired my G5 Quad two years ago from a recycling company in NY for 1000.00 dollars(I was on a G4 MDD at this point), Apple confirmed that the G5 Quad I got had the "Better" quality grade LCS, and not the DELPHI which plaugued the Early 2005 dual 2.7 and dual 2.5 OF 2004.

It's not just Rosetta. Office on my G4 opens in about half the time it used to on previous versions of 10.4
First open takes about 4 bounces to the Project Gallery, subsequent openings are maybe 2 bounces. Much quicker than before.

Here is how I got over may problems getting EyeTV working on the iPhone. I suppose the important part of the system is the modem/router, a Netgear DG834PN. Now this device is listed as not compatible with MobileMe and I have never managed to get " Back To My Mac " to work. Today I tried a bit harder.
You have to log into the router, turn on UPnP, then add some "services". You need to add port UDP 4500 for BTMM, TCP 2170 for eyetv. In firewall rules you need to add 3 services, the BTMM service you added, the EyeTV service and the HTTPS service (port 443). for all these services you need to add the IP address of your machine (can be found in system preferences network settings. it might be best to manually fix this in the network settings to stop the router reassigning in on a restart). finally (i think) you need to click on the WAN setup and set your machine as a DMZ server, enter the IP address of your machine. "Apply" all these changes as you make them
reboot the router, either unplug it or reboot from the diagnostics panel. (this part is important)
these processes turned the red "incompatible router" lights off for both BTMM and Use My EyeTV. :)
This process might not be as clear as it might be, and I am no expert, so I have no idea what all this stuff means, I tried various combinations, the DMZ being the last addition, and all seems to be working.
I dont run a software firewall, but if you do then you will need to punch some holes through that as well. You could test the router settings while the "soft" firewall is turned off.
Stuff often repeated elsewhere, you also need a core2duo processor, EyeTV 3.2, EyeConnect 1.3.6 etc etc and the iPhone app and or a MobileMe account.

Oh come on .. Well know why this was done. Just go read the post about when it was released. I could see this coming a mile away. Either a they would do this or b they would start doing the audits they talk about with educational purchases. There must have been atleast 50 people who blatantly posted about abusing the discount on a "public forum" and hundreds maybe thousands more who thougt of it. Lets say I owned a store and I saw a forum online where 50 plus people said they knew a way to rip off my store, do you think I would leave it vulnerable? I dont know ... maybe this is the reason or maybe it isnt but I think ts great they did it. Because now all the people who thought they could do this and thought its no different from walking in a store and walking out with out paying for an item, will have to mow a few more lawns or bag a few more grocerys and pay what the rest of the honest people out there will. I know I know I am sounding uber negative here but not nearly as negative as someone trying to justify stealing on a "public forum".

updated my macbook and imac (both CD) without a hitch.. this morning
didn't really notice any temperature increase in the macbook using istatnano from pre-updates either..
haven't used either devices much since the update to report any "features" or quirks.. but if anything does happen, i'll post back :)
