80GB External drives are being sold for 30-40$ at most. I�m sure they can offer it next to the 10 DVDs package or something that�s offered for Final Cut for 40$ more. Far easier and faster to install from an external drive than 10 DVDs. A lot of huge packages are starting to come in the external drives instead of 10 DVDs.
Yeah, but those DVDs will be around fifteen years from now when, presumably, you still want to use the software you dropped $1200 on. Show me a hard drive that will do such a thing, and you've got me sold. Until then, especially for professional apps costing significant sums, DVDs are going to be the standard.

I know they have free music and tv downloads. I think it would be cool to have a free movie download of maybe indie films or film classics because other than the free tv downloads I rarely buy any shows on iTunes since I don't have a video iPod.
And in the same vein as other posts I see this launching with an iPod update. My guess early November.

And who ever they are they evidently knew more about it from the inside circle.
we are supposed to believe apple did not use this to track people when they limited the iMovie for iPads to ONLY WORK if you agree it uses your locations, same with photos tagged with locations, now final cut also promoting LOCATIONS, duh, yeah right, only Apple techs online would argue this is not true, they lied to the FCC and the FCC is also chasing them now

The guy who pierced my tongue told me he does the prince albert (penis piercing) as well. He said the first one he did was on himself :eek: - ouch. He said he lost a ton of blood and later that night he and his wife went to Lounge Ax - a (defunct) local music club. One beer in, his head started spinning, he hit the floor and broke his nose - man - what a dumba$$.

My Xbox 360 still works great even though the new one has been announced and they are not making me buy it :)
Though someone who wants and HDMI 360 and a bigger hard drive has a version they can buy now. I don't see what's wrong with that. More options for the customer....people wanted it and Microsoft gave it to them. They could have done a few more things but overall it's an upgrade.
The biggest news to me is this:
"A standalone $179.99 HDD also ships April 29. This package includes one 120GB HDD, software, and a specialized cable to port data from a user's current hard drive to the new one."
I can upgrade my hard drive , TRANSFER MY CURRENT DATA FROM THE 20GB HARD DRIVE, and start downloading a lot more from the Marketplace. That's excellent!

If you bought a core system, and just upgraded to the 120 GB HD, then it would cost the same price as the Elite model! $299 + $179 = $478...If you bought a premium model, then...You already spent MORE than a 20 GB PS3 that has HDMI and Blu-ray! $399 + $179 = $578. You know, everyone just doesn't realize that until they add it up...Money is money. They need to drop prices on those accessories.
Who do you think is more greedy now? Sony or Microsoft? :p

Wow! Removable GPU, The message that I'm getting is it's clearly better to wait, that is if you can for the third or forth generation with anything apple does. It just keeps getting better with time. Removable GPU apple has come a long way.

The billion dollar question: just content purchased from iTunes or all compatible (audio) files in one's iTunes library?
I would love for it to encompass all iTunes media purchases, including movies and TV shows as well. I'm feeling a crunch with the drives in my Macs filling up with content very quickly. I wish Apple just kept track of what I "own" and let me play it based on a license that floats in the cloud. Should be doable right?
