That is an incredible deal!
Not a fan of the lighting though, I prefer my systems to be nice and clean and unobtrusive.

My best buy said that they got in their shipment but aren't allowed to open it yet. I don't understand why they can't just read the form that says how many were delivered, but...

I really hope this is a rental system, but not like Netflix. If they could give me one-day file "rentals" for $1 or $2, this would go from something I'd never even consider using to something I'd use for 95% of my movies...in fact, my movie viewing would probably skyrocket.
I very rarely watch a movie more than once. And at that price, if a movie is so good as to warrant a second viewing (but not good enough to buy the DVD), I wouldn't really mind paying again.

Best Buy hasn't officially said anything about how the pre-order process will work or when it will start, but im sure they will announce something before the 15th.
Well, they certainly should. Can't believe such a mega-retailer's missing out on the opportunity. I think even Wal-Mart's taking pre-orders (tho' I'm not sure, really). Ask you phone department manager. FWIW, I'm pre-ordering at AT&T on Tuesday (15th), or maybe the Apple Store if they have the same pickup-with-no-waiting-in-line policy.

*crosses fingers its before 22nd*
I can't imagine what the new would be (assuming there is one) if there wasnt then there would be huge improvements to the already existing one.

Apple is not the only company that makes software that makes DVD's. Roxio has been doing it for years and their product actually has been updated in recent memory.
I've never seen better DVD menu templates than iDVD - animated menus etc. The templates in Rixo ( titanium ) or even Adobe Premier Elements are all static - all pretty boring.

Very cool, but I love the contrast of the screen with the blam bezel.

Just started folding, only running it on one computer right now though. It's running on my 2.66GHz 12 core Mac Pro. Every little bit helps though, right? :)
Nice! Welcome to the team. :D

So are Rosetta improvements a pre-empt that we'll have to wait longer than expected for Adobe CS3?
Oh well apparently I'll have to throw the CS2 I got in the trash

If you don't like the rules of your job, then quit. Otherwise suffer the consequences.
Sure boss, because good paying jobs are so plentiful and easy to get I should just walk off my job whenever I get the urge...
Any more words of wisdom for the masses Copernicus?

It should work, but it won't be pretty.. I have the same MBP and I'm gonna take the chance - if it doesn't work well I'll let you know :-)
I know it will not work on high definition not even medium, but if in low it runs smoothly thats fine for me.

I'm quite sure of which way it would go. Are you a betting man?
I know which way I'd like it to go, but I also know that it's M$ we're dealing with...and wondered about what connections they had in the press.

wonder how this effects people(me) with a 4-5 week window that ordered last week ?
Wouldn't a 4-5 week wait last week equal to a 3-4 weeks this week? I think they're still taking orders for the same batch essentially.

The title should really be iSteve to follow up on iWoz. I cannot see anything but both hardcover and e-book releases being concurrent. And hopefully this is not being done because of anything really imminent. I've been Apple since 1979 when I started the Apple labs in the school I taught at (we had over 160 when I retired in 2009 with over 60 more on the way!) and having experienced most of Apple's ups & downs, I'm loving every moment of the company's current success.

I agree with all of these posts about pricing. My suggestion: stop buying stuff...or start pirating again. THAT seems to get their attention. All price point talk is irrelevant to them...they dont care how unhappy we are - unless we force them to change.

I said PART, as on it's not all because of Apple. Never said the pubs were the victims here, they also are to blame as well.
They (publishers) are "all" the blame. Apple's take has NOTHING to do with the over-pricing. This is all new to the publishers and they're trying to do many things with electronic distribution.... find the value, re-coop their investments (this is all new to them and they need to have a different production process for digital) and they need to find value for their advertisers to make money.

Simply brilliant.
The funny thing is I've made all these jokes about Apple to the horror of the fanboys in other various threads and been attacked viciously! LOL

Not to mention anything of the Sequoia, FJ Cruiser, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, Armada, Pathfinder, GX460, LX570, QX56. Why do the Asian companies always get a free pass on their giant offerings? They want in on that party just as much as any of the Big Three. In fact, I'd say Toyota is trying way harder than any of the big three brands, with 6 distinct SUV offerings (rav4, fj, highlander, 4runner, sequoia, land cruiser).
Domestic truck sales dwarf those of the Japanese, but you have a point. I'm not giving them a "free pass". Perhaps Toyota's increasing concentration on SUVs and the Prius has something to do with their worsening circumstances.
But the fact of the matter remains: the Japanese car manufacturers do not survive solely based on their truck sales - but the Big Three absolutely rely on strong truck sales to stay in business.
