Backlit keyboard on it and I am in. Perfect form factor and feature set for what I do all day every day. And less weight in my bag
Currently have the 13 mbp and would love to get a MBA to lighten my load.

I wonder if Apple will be able to provide the Movie Store to Europe and the rest of the world. If they can't, it's as good to me as if they didn't announce it at all. I mean look at TV Shows, what a disgrace, in Europe we might aswell still be running iTunes 4.
I think a Movie Store should be seperate from iTunes. A new store for movies, a new app for managing them.

Some applications just can't be multithreaded and writing reliable multi threaded applications is damned hard still.
Back in the early 90s I was using ICL DAPs which had a grid of 1024 CPUs. You could fly through a Mandlebrot set in realtime or analyse weather patterns quicker than anything else at the time short of a couple of Crays. A Mac SE/30 however was quicker at handling files and we used to use that to handle the normal stuff.
1024 CPUs??? WOW... and I thought I had nasty simulations. :o
Still, dont you think that it is a terrible waste of computing power if the app doesnt take advantage of multiple processors, eventhough it might be very hard to write such an app? This is really not my field and I know far too little to have an opinion, so take it for what it is worth.

With the switch to Intel, Apple may have to provide timely upgrades to remain competitive with Windows-based PC manufacturers.
Apple isn't trying to remain competitive with anyone.
Never have, never will.

Kind of a huge gap, don'cha think? For an extra $100 I can nearly TRIPLE the capacity? Why would I even consider a 30 GB model?

So does anyone know where in London it will be shown, except BBC TV centre by invite only?
Better yet, how do I get an invite?!

Apple could blow a hundred million in legal expenses. It's less of an instance of throwing in the towel, and more of an instance of, "You know, the way idiot judges/juries hand out settlements these days, let's just give them a paltry sum, let them think they've won, and still destroy them in the MP3 market."

No, Yonah is a variant of Socket 479. The Pentium-M used it too. Yonah has the same number of pins but there placement is slightly different.
No, the Sockets aren't compatible.
You're right, just went to Intel's site. How 'bout Merom? I thought I
heard (or read) that one of Intel's next generation cpu's would be
pin compatable with the current Yonah's.
EDIT: went to the Merom link in your sig. I hope to see a BIOS/EFI updater so I can upgrade the cpu in my iMac.

As someone looking forward to buying my very first Mac desktop; I must say this is a pretty lame rumour. 'Sandy Bridge'? 'Thunderbolt'? Nothing surprising; everyone here was expecting these two items. I want more specific rumours!:p
The wait continues...:(
Don't forget the possibility of better graphics and SSD as standard, now thats gotta be worth a grin :)

Yeah, otherwise it's FSB antics.
Not that the locked chips aren't that bad either.

That freakin' Tuniq Tower 120 is an abosolute Beast , I may have to look into purchasing one if my Artic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 isn't up to the task. I am hoping for atleast 3.6ghz from an E6600. Can't wait till Aug.

Love the free upgrade to the Magic Trackpad... I already have an $80 mouse (the Logitech MX Revolution) so I don't need a Magic Mouse, but I would love a free Magic Trackpad!

Not in 20 years, they couldn't. And no matter how often it's said to the contrary, $100 million is still very serious money.
Reminds me of 1997, when Microsoft was forced to invest $150 million in Apple as part of a settlement of a patent lawsuit, a lot of people couldn't wrap their minds around the idea that Microsoft had actually lost. They did then. Apple did today.

Baww i dun like free softwaer
...???
Since when is someone missing a checkbox dependent on what Operating System they use? Pretty sure remembering to uncheck everything during an install is a pain in the butt across the board.
So tired of the Us vs Them polarization in everything...

Hi
Not completely on topic but...
Is it possible to stream audio and video from a mac to the iPad? If so, is the feature included or does it require an app?
Refer to my post just before yours. Both solutions will work for streaming videos to your iDevice from iTunes. My previous post had a link to the iTunes instructions for Home Sharing, but here are the iOS instructions (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4557).
It isn't 100% free, but not too pricey. Air Video (iOS app) (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/air-video-watch-your-videos/id306550020?mt=8) will allow you to watch movies, in nearly any format, that are stored anywhere on your computer -- not just iTunes. Air Video Host software for Mac OS X and Windows (http://www.inmethod.com/air-video/download.html)

Way to bite the hand that feeds you, Steve. What an idiot. Production of Samsung Galaxy S handsets was brought to a crawl last year because of display shortages -shortages caused by tring to satify (oamong other things) Jobs' insatiable appetite for touch-sensitive screens.
Jobs should be kissing Samsung's a__, not suing it.
I suppose it's too much to hope Sammy would cut them off as a customer until this blows over. Of course, that wouldn't be in their best interests.

Educated guess would be "big" iPod sales will slump whilst the Nanos & Shuffles will skyrocket.
The Nanos and Shuffles already outsell the big ones. And I suspect that's how it would be regardless of what Apple does with the big model.
Many people just want something that is smaller and cheaper, and don't care that much about big capacity. Period.

One World. We aren't getting off this rock any time soon.
Perhaps, but the sooner man is extinguished from this planet the sooner the planet can recover to it's equilibrium.

if you have marantz speakers...... you have 40 dollars.
True, but if you've just spent 450 on the receiver and another 100 or so on speakers you'd maybe resent having to shell out more for AirPlay.

What else would you expect to hear? No company would just bow down and give up....
that's because samsung supplies all these companies with parts for their phones. Sue Samsung, risk getting the shaft on internals! We'll see what happens.
Samsung couldn't pull out on any existing deals, otherwise they'd be in breach of contract.
