For all past events, the streams were posted much later in the day and no link existed until then. This is different. It has to be a live stream because that's the only way Steve could skip the trip to Paris. On top of that, I don't want to spend my $6 for airport wi-fi for nothing.

agreed. and I think the whole live and transporting Steve from North America to Europe all in real time live live live is the point of it all anyway.
And tomorrow you'll be able to do the same thing from your comfy couch. just $1499.

    Rookies. DynDNS.com FTW.

I've been using that for years. :D But they have a DNS service with EyeTV as well.

    This is getting exciting.

The billion dollar question: just content purchased from iTunes or all compatible (audio) files in one's iTunes library?

And that is the biggest question of them all. If I can't put the music I bought and ripped up in the cloud, what is the point? I am curious to see if this is going to be a paid service, part of Mobile Me or? Can't wait to see how this plays out.

Yep, i agree with the sentiments above. Far, far too much money being asked for. I've been a GQ subscriber for years. I pay maybe 20 bucks for an annual subscription. Why would I pay $3-4 an issue, especially when there are no additional features? Its literally just a PDF of the magazine. Not worth it guys. Want us to get iPad magazines? Make it cheaper, or justify the additional price with content!

It's funny, but wherever I go, I always see people with iPhones. My train, on plane trips between Chicago and NYC, during meetings, etc. I am amazed the number is only 5% - but I guess it's the circles that I am in.

Sat on a crowded tube train the other week and did a straw poll of the phones people took out of their pockets during the journey.

I counted something like 9 phones, and 7 were iPhones. And 5 of them were iPhone 4s.

Obviously it's not scientific, but Apple are doing something right.

I wonder, in this process, how many FTE are going to be dedicated to receiving and aggregating this dayda. Or if the app development itself signaled the end like has been mentioned. I'd be nice to receive something as a followup; maybe a post card from ATT.

LCD: What a terrible looking display - back light bleeding not so much as terrible diffusion / light scatter - you can clearly see the LEDs themselves - bleeding I usually associate with a spot or two from poor extinction ratios - but that thing is... ack. As for the white balance bit with a white surround, I've yet to notice this effect while using any of my white iMacs, and have not seen it on the white Macbooks...

So, you're comparing a screen [white iPhone 4] that you've never seen before compared to various Mac computers that you own? Bad comparison if you ask me. Wait until you've gotten your hands on it for a while before giving your verdict.

Now that The Social Network has cemented the idea that biopics don't require the main subject to be deceased, maybe we'll get a Steve Jobs/Apple movie that also covers the post-Pirates-Of-Silicon-Valley era. With an actual budget and acclaimed writers, director and cast! I'm being half tongue-in-cheek, but the geek in me would drool over this. Although, being an optimist, I think there is a lot more fodder to come with Apple and Jobs! Why not interview him in depth now and until his, hopefully a long time from now, passing, and then have the whole story. I guess because he and Apple are peaking.

I would LOVE to see a movie on how he was fired and then he came back, and how the iPod revolutionalized everything...to see all the inner workings of all those deals....behind closed fdoors.

An application from iLife '11 has already been released. It's called iTunes 10. It's not 64-bit.

Uhmmm... iTunes is not a part of iLife ;)

The white iPhone looks pretty cool.

I don't think Apple ever intended for people to upgrade from a black iPhone 4 to the white one... This is an extra push for folks that are in the middle of the bell curve to upgrade their iPhone 3G or 3GS.

MacRumors is filled with folks pushing the leading edge of the curve. The fact that the biggest threads are the "release day, I just got my new iThing" threads says a lot. The white iPhone is too little, too late for people like us.

That said, most units are sold in the 10-12 months that follow a product release. I think the white iPhone is a nice mid-cycle bump for the product.

Apple rumormongering has gotten to a ridiculous level.

This was NEVER going to happen. The entire basis for the story was simply John Gruber's SPECULATION that it MIGHT be better for Apple to release the iPad on a September schedule.

That makes no sense either. iPad demand is already front loaded to the point that it's hard to buy one for the first month or two. How much worse would it be if it came out during the holiday season?

At this point any post that starts with "Apple may X" can at that point be ignored as best case baseless, worst caes deliberate link-bait. Sure enough it'll be followed some time later by "Apple won't X" for another round of pageviews.

You do realize that Jobs is not an engineer. Nor has he ever programmed anything.

I have read all the patents where he's the first name listed. There's only about a half dozen, mostly ideas related to iPods and icons. And that gooseneck monitor arm. Oh, and he came up with the slide-to-power-off thingie you see if you hold down the iPhone power button.

My favorite: while the iPhone was being worked on by his employees, he applied for a patent for a telephone dial UI driven by a clickwheel. It was almost as cool as the Onion's "MacBook Wheel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BnLbv6QYcA)" parody:

Jealous much? Of course you do realize that the order of inventors on a patent means absolutely nothing. This is not academia. And since when do all computer inventions have to come from "engineers" and "programmers"?

    I'm not gonna lie

As much as I'm the type of person to wait for the new tech to come out before I make a purchase, especially with the IP5 due in 6ish months, I'm really considering getting the White IP4. My current phone is definitely on its last legs and I don't know if I can wait long enough before needing a new one.

And as other posters have said, not every consumer keeps up with the latest Apple rumors. A very small fraction of the populace is aware than a 5th gen iphone is even in development. You can't blame Apple for milking the Iphone 4 for all its worth.

It could last up till 7pm!? That's 4am AEST! ARGH!! If there's one thing this Ashes series has done, it's exposed cricket lovers at work. They are the red-eyed, bumbling fools. :)

Definitely. My brother is in Sydney and he is glued to the screen, yet he has to be up at 6am. I cannot concentrate at work myself though.

Yes, Apple is a kind of Big Brother. They strictly control what people get to do with their devices. Some might call it censorship.

And what does Stewart complain about?

That they got mad at the guy who, well, paid a stranger to get his hands on their property and then even disassembled it?

Imagine losing your iPhone. The guy who finds it doesn't return it and sells it instead. And another guy takes it apart to look inside. You'd be mad, too. ;) Even if it wasn't a super secret candy pooping prototype.

QUESTION: Would the police in your town break down the door of someone who stole your cell phone?

    ADMIT IT... Answer? NOPE!

And please let's go down the trade secrets route, we're not talking anything breakthrough here or nuclear technology. This was a crazed over-reaction by both local police authorities and Apple and they deserve to be roundly ridiculed, lambasted, and criticized for this complete waste of tax dollars and destruction of property and home invasion, all for a lost cell phone by a drunk guy in a bar.

Turkey is also the first Asian country to ban such garments. Turkey is a transcontinental Eurasian country:)

That's affirmative. Interesting enough, there was also another Muslim country which outlawed such garments even before Turkey did, but that was in Northern Africa.

We were in Ireland last year and shocked at how much advertising there was for Bud. The story of it being so popular in Ireland was that Budweiser was advertising the heck out of it and trying to paint Guinness as an "old man's beer" and Budweiser as the hip, young, sporty drink.

As for not liking beers? tsk tsk... It just means you haven't tried the right one.

Personally, I wouldn't serve Bud to my worst enemy. Then again, I'm spoiled. My local beer store stocks 800+ brews from around the world. I've had some amazing ones (Alley Kat - Kilt Lifter is a fave from my home town) and some horrible ones (A brew we had while vacationing in Botswana that I'm glad I can't remember the name of)

first time poster. tho long time macrumor visitor :)

i couldn't help it. as I had just been working on a video running into all sorts of frustration as we editors usually do.. I was just as excited as the crowds with each new feature that was announced. can't wait!

some people wonder why people were so excited.. it's because the new features really take away ton of the frustrations we've always had with final cut. it'll save us time and make our lives easier. go apple!

and that price... apple is willing to incur opportunity cost (As professional video editors are willing to pay a LOT more for this, perhaps near 1K) for the hope of picking up tons of more consumer users... which they will. smart move.

Watch your tone and don't be an *******.

The RESPONSES TO the article suggested that people assumed the Korea would be the first country to get it, which of course makes zero sense.

Also, I don't recall other countries launching a major Apple product simultaneously with the US, but I could be wrong.
Well, then why not read the actual article instead of responses? Seriously.

P.S. What's my tone? I just rolled my eyes like that  That's all. There was a neutral tone in the form of bunch of letters. No kidding.
